Dr Sharmela is an ENT Surgeon with over 25 years of international experience as a medical practitioner at a large national hospital, the premier scientific and research institutions, university and private medical organizations.Experience includes Consultant Surgeon roles, research, management oversight responsibilities, and teaching positions. International experience includes tenures in the Sultanate of  Oman,  the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, the Republic of Seychelles and the of Oman, the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, the Republic of Seychelles, and the Maldives.I am MS and MBBS degrees awarded by one of India’s leading medical schools. One of only 150 elite students across the entire Indian nation was awarded the National Talent Scholarship in 1980, after a merit-based evaluation process. The Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of India awarded the National Merit Scholarship.I was the Chairperson of the Staff Welfare, Parent & Community subcommittee of Indian School Muscat, the largest co-educational institution in the Gulf region with more than 9000 students, during my tenure as a member of the School Management Committee.I was an Advisor (in a Volunteer role) of the Indian Medical Association National Committee for Emotional Health & Wellbeing of Medical Students and Doctors in  India from 2018 to 2021. I was a Speaker at the Robotic Surgery CME Masterclass hosted by the Middle East Medical Portal last year CurrentlyI am a Co-Founder (with Dr. Kalpana Nagpal) of the Women’s Association of Otolaryngologists of India, a registered organization in India, and we are planning our inaugural conference in October 2022.
